February 24, 2005, St. Charles, MO ñ jWeb New Media Design is celebrating a successful start to 2005 with nominations for four national awards for website design and online communication. The nominated sites were created for the National Childrenís Cancer Society (NCCS).
The NCCS site, which serves as a source of information and support for families of children suffering with cancer, is up for three awards: A Webby Award for Best Website for a Charitable Organization; a Gold Quill Award for its online communication capabilities; and a Communicator Award for connecting families of childhood cancer sufferers with the NCCS and each other.
A second site for the NCCS, featuring the organizationís Beyond the Cure program, has also been nominated for a Gold Quill Award. The site, which is an educational resource for survivors of childhood cancer, was nominated because it creates a world of information that was previously unavailable online to this audience.
ìOur goal with the NCCS was to create an innovative network between the organization, the families it serves and its supporters,î Amy Comparato, jWeb Principal said. ìThe fact that the sites are gaining national attention is a testament to our success in achieving that goal.î
The Webby Awards, heralded as ìThe Oscars of the Internetî, were established in 1996 and are presented annually by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. The Gold Quill Awards, currently in their 34th year, are widely considered the highest level of professional acknowledgement within business communication. The Communicator Awards is an international awards competition founded by communication professionals to recognize excellence in the communication field.
